Lal Singh expresses concern over slow pace fencing of forest areas

RAMBAN, Sept 28:  Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh, today toured Ramban district and inspected various National Highway four laning construction works in Banihal, Ramban and Nashri areas.
Meanwhile, he also convened a meeting of officers of all wings of Forest Department besides laying foundation stone for the construction of BJP district office at Ramban and Forest  Hut at Patnitop.
Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramban Neelam Kumar Lengeh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Ravi Kumar Kesar, District Development Commissioner Ramban Tariq Hussain Ganai, Senior Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal, Chief Conservator Jammu S F A Gellani, Conservator Chenab Circle Doda T B Singh and HoDs of Forests and its allied wings accompanied the Minister.
The Minister exhorted upon the officers for restoration of dense forest besides ensuring sustainable development of State. He asked the officers to ensure that the scenic splendor and natural resources in the State are taken care of while executing different development projects.
He also reviewed the status of implementation of directions issued by him in his last meeting including demarcation of forest  in Patnitop area for which instructions were passed for its completion in time bound manner. He further directed the DFO Batote to construct foot paths along the forest area so that no one can damage the forest.
Lal Singh directed the DFOs to ensure fencing of forest area and stop all illegal activities. He expressed serious concern over lackadaisical attitude of officers in following his directions regarding fencing of forest area, demarcation of forest land and proper dumping of muck and upkeep of natural resources.
He asked the field officers to strictly adhere to the terms and conditions, adding that no violation will be tolerated in this regard. He directed the DFO Ramban and Batote to launch a special plantation drive to cover open mountains and hills in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, the Minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) district office building at Govind Pura Maitra, Ramban in the presence of local people.
