Lal Singh elected President J&K Wrestling Association

SRINAGAR, July 10: Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh has been unanimously elected president of All J&K Wrestling Association.
The other members elected to form the new team of office bearers of the sports organization were Rakesh Khajuria as General Secretary, and RK Men as Treasurer. Singh and other office bearers were elected during an open election process in Srinagar.
Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Secretary J&K Sports Council, Waheed-Ur-Rehmaan Para among other senior officials of sports department were present on the occasion.
Speaking during the function, Singh said that he will work to attract youth towards this traditional game and asserted that it was unfortunate to see that the youth are losing interest in wrestling despite it being the traditional game of India.
The Minister said that under the leadership of Minister for Sports, Imran Reza Ansari, the sports sector across the State was receiving a new flip. He complimented him and his entire team.
Later the Ministers interacted with the sports persons of the State and assured them that the all possible help would be provided to them for excelling in various sports activities. Meanwhile, General Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Wrestling Association has termed the elections as illegal.
He said that the elections of J&K Wrestling Association will be held in General Body meeting on July 16, 2017, which will be supervised by the observers from Wrestling Federation of India and Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA).
He further said that in the so-called election held, there weren’t observers from Federation or Olympic Association, adding that the elections were also stayed by the Court earlier.
