Lakhanpur Forest Checkpost renamed as Anti Polythene Checkpost

JAMMU, May 23: Taking strong note of wanton use of polythene and its uncontrolled import into the State, Forest Minister, Rajiv Jasrotia, today issued directions for renaming Lakhanpur Forest Checkpost as Anti Polythene Checkpost, with the purpose of checking and controlling the entry of polythene into the State.
The Anti Polythene Checkpost Lakhanpur shall jointly be manned and supervised by the staff of Forest Department (territorial), Pollution Control Board and the sleuths of Forest Protection Force, which will work under the overall supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer, Kathua.
The main objective of this newly designated Checkpost is to check the smuggling of polythene and its allied products of less than 50 microns and all other products prohibited under SRO 45 of 2017. In addition to this, the checking of smuggling of minor forest produce and Willow clefts shall also be the main focus of this squad as per the Government order 177 FST 2018 dated 23-05-2018, which shall come into force with immediate effect.
