JAMMU, Oct 23: Ladakhi students held a protest here today against the administration of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh.
Large number of Ladakhi students assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club Jammu under the banner of All Ladakh Students Association and raised slogans against the LAHDC Leh for their irresponsible and arrogant attitude towards the helpless students.
“We all are from Ladakh and studying in Jammu and different parts of the country want a parallel exam centre in Jammu for the forthcoming examination for general line teachers, VLW and MPW on October 29”, the students said.
They stated that due to the prevailing unrest in Kashmir, it is not safe for the students to travel through Kashmir in such circumstances and the Manali-Leh road is also officially closed for traffic and the students can’t afford air-fare as it is too high for them.
“Mid-term exams are going on in various colleges, semester exams in different universities and various other competitive exams, due to which the deserving candidates can’t appear in the said exam at Leh centre”, they said, adding that  they approached administration with the request for a parallel centre at Jammu.
We were expecting a positive response from the administration, but after repeated calls and formal letters to CEC and DC Leh, we don’t get a positive response from them and even the authorities at LADHC Leh not even considering our request and this is the reason we have to come on roads, they stated.
We will continue our protest till the authorities at Leh will consider our request of a parallel centre at Jammu or postponement of the said exam, the protesting students said.
