LEH, Aug 24: ‘I Run Sports Management Pvt Ltd’ organized a 2-day, La Ultra Marathon in which a large number of long distance runners, including foreigners, participated.
Four athletes of Ladakh Scouts Regiment representing the Indian Army team, also participated in this event.
As many as 54 participants from various nations participated in the event. Continuing their winning streak in the prestigious event, the first four positions were secured by the participants of Ladakh Scouts runners breaking their own record of last year, by 20 minutes. Those who secured first four positions are Rifleman Stanzin Nurboo, Rifleman Jigmet Norboo, Rifleman Shabbir Hussain and Rifleman Stanzin Phunstog respectively.
Displaying perseverance, the first four position holders proved their mettle in the unique high altitude run and has brought laurels for the Regiment and the Indian Army.
The 2-day 111 kms run was commenced from Sumur in Nubra valley on August 23 with an ascent up to 18350 ft high Khardung La followed by a descent to the finish point at Shanti Stupa, Leh on August 24, 2018.
