LA panel recommends compensation to land owners

JAMMU, Jan 9: The Committee on Petitions of Legislative Assembly today recommended for providing  compensation to the families whose land was acquired by the Police Department for establishment of Commando Training Centre at village Khanibugh Lethpora.
The Committee, which met under the chairmanship of MLA Ashok Kumar discussed and examined the petition filed by residents of Khanibugh Lethpora seeking compensation for their land.
The Committee asked the concerned to assess the land compensation and settle the issue within two months under intimation to the Assembly Secretariat.
The Committee members Mir Zahoor Ahmad, Bimla Luthra, Abdul Razak Wagay, Durga Dass, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Baldev Raj and Sukhnandan Kumar attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions for disposal of the petition.
The Panel asked revenue and police authorities to settle the issue jointly so that the owners get the compensation in a time bound manner.
Earlier, Collector Land Acquisition, Dr. Shah Faisal briefed the Committee about the action taken report with regard to scrutiny of revenue     records of the said land.
Inspector General of Police (Hqr) Deepak Kumar assured the Committee that as soon as the revenue authorities furnish the   assessments, the same would be forwarded to the concerned quarter for immediate release of compensation in favour of the land owners.
Senior officers of Revenue, Police and Assembly Secretariat   attended the meeting.
