SRINAGAR, Nov 20: Women badminton team of Kashmir University has started its campaign on a winning note in the ongoing North Zone Intervarsity Badminton Women Tournament, being held at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Jalandhar Punjab.
The KU team defeated Doon University, Dehradun by 3-0 (21-11, 21-14 and 21-10) and in the second match, KU defeated DAV University Jalandhar.
For KU, Hadiya and Huda performed exceptionally well by defeating their counterparts by 21-9, 21-11 and in doubles event by 21-15.
Earlier, the tournament was thrown open by the Vice Chancellor of LPU along with Pro-Vice Chancellor.
VC LPU while speaking on the occasion praised the efforts put in by the KU Sports Department for the promotion of women sports at North Zone Intervarsity Level.
Dr Nisar Ahmad Khan Coordinator, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports KU, Nadeem Ahmad Assistant Director and Towseef Ahmad Assistant Director urged the players to display their threshold performance in the upcoming matches.
The team is being accompanied by Surjeet Kour, Sports Assistant of the Directorate.
