JAMMU, Feb 12: In response to recent resolution passed by State Legislature on return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley a day long interactive session was organized by KP Sabha here, today in which prominent members of the community including scholars and socio-political activists participated.
The Session was presided over by K K Khosa, president KP Sabha. The leaders and intellectuals who put forth their views included Surinder Ambardar, MLC, Prof Ashok Aima, Moti Kaul, vice president State BJP, A K Sidha, president Migrant Cell PDP, B L Bhat, ex MLC, B L Saraf (retired district and Session Judge), Shiban Khaibri (freelancer), S K Koul, Desh Rattan, president AMCCC and Roshan Lal Raina.
The House termed the resolution as a positive development and said it is an acknowledgement on the part of the political force of the State that the Pandits were forced to leave their homes and hearths on account of difficult and adverse circumstances and that they did not leave on their own or on any body’s prompting.
While the House does not doubt the bonafides of the legislators who have unanimously passed the resolution but the litmus test would be if enough measures will be taken by the State Government and the Legislature which will instill confidence in the displaced community like fulfill the employment component of the PM’ package at the earliest, make life worth living for those young boys and girls who have taken the jobs and are presently working in most trying conditions prevailing in the Valley, enact the law for protection of “Shrines and Temples” of Hindus in Kashmir, address the problems of displaced persons living in Jagti, Nagrota, Muthi, and Mishriwala tenements.
It demanded that the problems of non camp dwellers need also to be addressed promptly.
It also demanded that the functioning of Relief Organisation needs to be streamlined. The officers and officials manning the organization must adopt human approach towards the displaced Pandits who are presently creating hurdles in the implementation of various facilities being provided to the displaced community which have made their lives miserable.
