JAMMU, Feb 27: Kalakote People’s Forum (KPF) today urged upon the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to deal strictly with people who were trying to disturb peace and engineer communal tension in Kalakote area of district Rajouri.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, president of the Forum Surinder Singh Bharti, executive members, Capt (Retd) Raj Kumar, Vikram Sharma and Haji Abdul Haq said that the present Government initiated several development works in Kalakote area of Rajouri due to which opponents got scared. They are now playing dirty tricks to disturb peace and tranquility in this peace loving town and also engineering communal tension.
Referring to the recent incident at Kalakote during meeting at Dak Bangalow, they said some people on the behest of a local politician were involved in hooliganism and disturbed the atmosphere in the town. Many of them have already been booked under various FIRs including recent attack on PRO of sitting minister from Kalakote area. The elements who are inciting communal tension in the area must be dealt with heavy hands, they demanded.
The Forum members further demanded that case of murder of two girls and a police cop in Kalakote town some time back, having key role of the then SHO, and abetting to suicide of Sarpanch Ranjit Singh on April 7, 2016 over some land dispute in which some close relatives of the local politician were involved, were hushed up by top police officers. There is strong resentment among the people of Kalakote sub division over the shaddy role of Police. They demanded that case should be handed over to CBI.
They further alleged that despite assurance by the sitting Minister A G Kohli during elections, this case was not handed over to CBI and moreover, the SIT framed by the then SSP Rajouri, failed to solve the case even after two and half years and the officers at the helm of affairs sat on the file. The police was shielding own police officer in that case. They warned to launch agitation over the issue if the DGP and the State Chief Minister failed to hand over case to CBI to solve triple murder case of Kalakote. They also demanded that all the notorious persons of the area be booked under PSA to maintain peace in the area.
