JAMMU, Dec 25: Demanding permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit migrants and one time compensation of Rs one crore to each family, a protest rally was jointly organized by Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front J&K at Jagti migrant camp.
The protest was organized under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita,. president of Jagti Tenement Committee as well as Soan Kashmir Front J&K.
While addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita said that since the date the Kashmiri Pandit community was forced to leave their homes and hearths in the Valley, the Government had assured for their permanent rehabilitation in a safe and secure place in Kashmir valley but nothing in this direction has been done till date.
“Since the date of migration the Pandit families have suffered huge loss due to damages to their properties in Kashmir valley and therefore we demand for grant of one time compensation of Rs 1 crore to each and every Migrant family,” he added.
Pandita claimed that the employment package announced by the then Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh has not yet been implemented in letter and spirit as only approximately 2000 posts have been filled leaving approximately 4000 posts yet to be filled. “The collation Government of PDP and BJP has totally ignored this migrant community by depriving them of their rights,” he alleged and added that the incumbent Government was not interested in permanent rehabilitation of the migrant community and implementing the PMs employment package in its letter and spirit.
Raju Kumar Tickoo, convener JTC and Sunil Koul, general secretary JTC, also spoke on the occasion and demanded the cash assistance relief to the tune of Rs. 25000 per family per month enabling the migrants to meet their day today domestic needs.
