JAMMU, May 9: Various Kashmiri Pandit organizations including All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD), All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCCC) and Kashmiri Displaced United Council (KDUC) have taken the State and Central Governments to task for their failure in mitigating the sufferings of the displaced Pandits from Valley.
In their separate statements the AIKS chief, Moti Kaul, KPC president, Kundan Kashmiri, KSD president, Rakesh Kaul and leaders of AMCCC and KDUC Desh Rattan and Vinod Tickoo respectively said that the callous attitude of State Government towards the displaced Pandits has has led to a lot of resentment among the community members.
They said that there is no headway on much talked about PM’s package as out of 6000 jobs announced by Dr Manmohan Singh in 2008 only few hundred youth were appointed in last four years while the Government was adopting the delaying tactics in appointment of waiting list candidates.
Making it clear to the Government that Kashmiri Pandits have not left the Valley out of their sweet will Kundan Kashmiri, Rakesh Kaul, Desh Rattan and Vinod Tickoo said that the Government should pay due compensation to the losses of property suffered by the community during  last 23 years of turmoil. They said that maximum houses of the community have turned into rubble in Valley while others were razed to ground besides the properties were vandalized and no compensation was paid for the same till date.
They alleged that the overaged youth have turned desperate as no steps were taken for their rehabilitation. These youth have no source of income except a meager amount being paid to them as cash assistance. It is also unfortunate that no steps are being taken for the enhancement of the same though the relief holders are sitting on dharna for over 40 days.
While criticizing the Government for enforcing the 16 hour long power cuts in Jagti township they said that this amounts to human rights violation and community will take recourse to the same.
