Kounsar Nag yatra flagged off

REASI, July 6: Week long historical Kounsar Nag yatra alongwith Charri Mubarak was flagged off from Reasi early this morning with traditional fervour and gaiety.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi flagged off the Yatra in the presence of SSP Reasi, other officials and prominent citizens amidst raising of religious slogans and Bhajans.
Lot of enthusiasm was visible on the faces of numerous pilgrims, hailing not only from Reasi but also from other areas and had queued up since early in the morning to become a part of this historical Kounsar Nag yatra despite challenging weather conditions.

It was informed by the head priest that the Charri yatra will first reach at Sungari in a bus and then the pilgrims will travel towards Singlikote on the second day followed by on foot journey from Malikote and cross over Sarsote, Sai Nalla, Bagshu, Sarri, Gorban, Kounsar Gali before reaching Kounsar Nag.
Elaborate arrangements of transport, night halts and security etc have been made by the administration for the pilgrims. Enroute more local pilgrims from Arnas, Dharmari, Mahore and other areas will join the batch of pilgrims.
The Kounsar Nag yatra along with historical Charri Mubarak was organized successfully in the past due to which a large number of people from different parts of the State expressed their willingness to join the pilgrimage this year.
Kounsar Nag is one of the highest altitude springs of Kashmir, situated at 30 km from Aharbal. The spring shimmers with fresh, crystal clear glacial waters and covers an area of around 5 km in length and two and half kilometres in breadth.
