REASI, July 22: Ahead of week long historical Kounsar Nag Yatra along with Charri Mubarakh, the Yatra Committee convener has alleged non-utilization of funds for the development of facilities for the pilgrims.
Talking to media persons, here today, the Yatra convener Thakan Dass said that the administration was not using the allotted funds for raising sheds and other facilities enroute the pilgrimage. Despite repeated requests of the administration, no attention has been paid for developing this beautiful and revered spot, in which both Hindu and Muslims have high belief,” he said and appealed the administration to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to popularise the spot by erecting hoardings at prominent locations, so that pilgrims after visiting the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi here could be diverted to such locations.
Thakan Dass informed that historical Kounsar Nag Yatra along with Charri Mubarak will
start from July 25.
Pertinent to mention that the Kounsar Nag Yatra is organized every year.  The annual yatra from Reasi-Chassana route to the highest altitude springs of Kashmir, situated at 30 km from Aharbal, has gained much popularity during the past few years.
The Kounsar Nag spring shimmers with fresh, crystal clear glacial waters and covers an area of 5 km in length and two and half kilometers in breadth.
Thakan Dass stressed that all out efforts would be made to promote the Kounsar Nag as tourist destination besides maintaining its religious sanctity.
