Kotranka, Budhal people facing acute ration crisis

Excelsior Correspondent
RAJOURI, Oct 30: The people from Kotranka and Budhal area are facing acute shortage of ration for the last about two months.
The Department of CAPD has failed to provide sugar and even the rice and atta/ wheat to the rationees of these two tehsils. Neither the free ration as announced by Government or the paid APL quota of the ration card holders has been released in last two months. The people are being forced to lift ration from the open market as the CAPD has failed to maintain the supplies.
While the CAPD officials claimed that majority of the people will get free ration and the lists are being prepared yet by the Revenue authorities, the Sarpanches of the several villages alleged that public has been left to suffer by the Government. If the lists were not prepared or being re-drafted, at least APL supply against payment should be provided to the rationees.
Sarpanch Badr Din from Budhal alleged that no sugar quota was provided by the CAPD in last two months while Atta and rice supply has also been suspended for the more than two months to the public. No proper reason is being given by the CAPD officials for it. Mohd Shabir Sarpanch Upper Kewal alleged that affected rain and flood victims are still waiting for the free ration while, the normal CAPD supplies have also been suspended for the reason best known to the TSOs and Storekeepers concerned. Another Sarpanch, Abdul Qayoom from Kotranka alleged that District Administration was mainly responsible for it. He said that a large number of people have been left to suffer and lists have not been completed so far as claimed by the TSO and storekeepers. At least, people should be ensured regular supply of ration. He warned that entire public will come out on the roads if the supplies were not resumed. He claimed that as per sources 2800 qtls of rice and 1352 qtls of Atta is lying in Kotranka CAPD store but no distribution is being done by the concerned staff. They sought the intervention of Director CAPD in this regard.
