UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital, Udhampur, a unit of “The Udhampur Rotary Eye and General Welfare Foundation’ inaugurated its first Vision Centre at Chenani.
This Vision Centre is the first of its kind in the whole J&K State fully sponsored by the LVPEI, Hyderabad and Seva Foundation. Operation Eye Sight Universal is the technical partner providing all the technical and operational support in setting up of this Vision Centre.
Dr Santosh Moses, (Country Head, Operation Eyesight Universal) inaugurated the Vision Centre. The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of “The Udhampur Rotary Eye & General Welfare Foundation” namely DN Sharma, Rajendra Sanson, SS Kerni, Rajeev Gupta, Puran Lal Sharma, Surjeet Singh and Dr Rattan Lal Sharma, besides staff of the KLSM Rotary Eye & ENT Hospital, Udhampur, BMO Chenani and some social workers.
The purpose of the Centre is to provide affordable eye care facility to the people of the catchment area. Since there is no facility available in the whole Chenani and adjoining blocks, the patients who are prescribed with spectacles have to rush to Udhampur which also add to their worries due to pathetic road condition. This facility will help all the sections of the society to get affordable primary eye care checkups and spectacles.
Special attention will be given to the weaker section of the societies to provide eye care by organizing outreach community and school screening camps in different villages of the catchment area.
