Khatana stresses for permanent rehabilitation of tribal people

JAMMU, Feb 23: The Gujjar and Bakerwal State president, Choudhary Nazakat Khatana has stressed upon the Government to make a policy for permanent rehabilitation of tribal people.
While addressing a press conference here today, Ch Nazakat Khatana, said that the State Government should formulate of a policy for permanent rehabilitation of tribal people, as done for migrants of J&K.
He further said that there is a need of including Gojri language on 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution as it has been recognized as a tribal language of India by the Sahatiya Academy. He said as the nomadic community almost lives in far flung forest and hilly areas, there is a need of SSA Residential schools to be functional.
Khatana said that the Nomadic Conservation Act 1980 and Forest Act 2006 may be enacted in the State to develop forest villages for the tribal nomadic group of State. He also appealed all the tribal people to take part in elections viz. forth coming Panchayat elections so that the community may get uplifted and strong.
Rafaqat Aijaz, Ch Ali Hussain, Ch Jameel Ahmed, Jamat Ali, Ch Shamsdin and Ch Mohd Shafi were also present during the press conference.
