KCSC thrashes Mandal; ‘Jamun Tree’ helps RCC Srinagar to register narrow win

JAMMU, July 8: KC Sports Club thrashed Mandal Cricket Club in an easy contest by 9 wickets, while Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar registered a narrow win by 2 runs over Krishna Cricket Club Akhnoor courtesy-popular ‘Jamun Tree’ inside the boundary rope of KC Public School ground as it stopped three certain sixes of Krishna Club batsmen when it mattered the most in death overs, helping RCC to register thrilling victory.
This tree inside the boundary ropes at this beautiful KC School ground analogous to a few International grounds in New Zealand and South Africa, serves twin purpose-one it adds colour to this picturesque playfield and second-it makes the contests exciting like today’s match.
Earlier, in the first match, batting first, Mandal Cricket Club scored a modest total of 101 runs in 19.4 overs. Monu, Rinku Singh and Parveen contributed 25, 24 and 23 runs to the total. From KCSC, Tanmay was pick of the bowlers, who took 5 important wickets, while Vivek bagged 3 wickets. Vijay Dogra and Abhishant claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, KCSC scored the required runs in 13.2 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Abhishant was the top scorer with 61 runs, while Ateev Saini and Sahil Bhalwal contributed 22 and 15 runs respectively. Monu was the only successful bowler from Mandal Cricket Club, who took the lone wicket to fall. Tanmay was adjudged as the man of the match.
In another match, RCC Srinagar got better of Krishna CC Akhnoor in a thrilling contest by 2 runs.
Batting first, RCC scored a fighting total of 139 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Manjeet Singh top scored with magnificent 64 runs, while Aditya Partap, Rahul Mussa and Musaif Ajaz contributed 19, 16 and 10 runs respectively. For KCC Akhnoor, Pamkaj took 3 important wickets, while Panku, Vinny and Sumit claimed one wicket each.
In reply, KCC Akhnoor scored 137 runs and lost the match by 2 runs. Panku top scored with 31 runs, while Rahul and Ankush contributed 17 and 15 runs respectively. KCC needed 45 runs in the 36 balls with 3 wickets in hand, when ‘Jamun Tree’ saved RCC from the blushes of defeat by stopping some certain sixes of KCC batsmen and converted them into ones and twos. From RCC Srinagar, Rahul Mussa, Praful Dhar, skipper Puneet Wattal and Manjeet Singh bagged 2 wickets each, while Pranav claimed one wicket. Manjeet Singh was declared as man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance.
