JAMMU, Oct 19: A delegation of 12 students of KC Public School in the age range of 13 to 17 years attended the Model United Nations (MUN) Conference hosted by Dhirubhai Ambani International School Mumbai from October 11 to 14, 2018.
The delegation consisted of Sparsh Bhat, Avril Attri, Suhani Sachdeva, Bhavyata Anand, Kshitij Gupta, Sanvi Gupta, Uttkarsh Khajuria, Uday Singh Bhau, Hanumat Sharma, Chahat Pandita, Osheen Mahajan and Swati Pawar escorted by Bhavna Langer. 520 students from 22 schools including the host school attended the Conference.
On the opening ceremony ‘DAIMUN 2018’, the speech by Secretary General Arjun Shukla inspired and urged the delegates to become active non-state actors in the mission for positive change in the world.
The chief guests at the ceremony were Rajeev, Commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Bittu Sehgal, an eminent personality involved in the tiger conservation movement.
Both talked about the need for cooperation between national governments and the non-state actors to bring about positive change in significant areas of human endeavour in the contemporary world.
On the second and third days of the Conference, lots of discussions took place on various agendas such as obligation to negotiate access to Pacific Ocean, rights of female migrants, lone-wolf extremism etc under different International Committees. KCPS delegated represented Bahrain, Burundi, Central African Republic of Cameroon, Mexico and Japan as members of these committees.
It was an intense learning experience for them to indulge in discussions and debates related to many issues and agendas facing the world of today.
