JAMMU, July 28: Players continued to vie for top positions in Inter School District Level Competitions being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in Jammu and Kathua districts.
In District Jammu, the competitions were organized in the disciplines of Badminton (Boys & Girls), Taekwondo, Thang-Ta, Judo and Chess U-19 Boys here at MA Stadium Indoor Complex.
Results: In Chess U-19 Boys, Varinder Singh of KCP School beat Ishan of MIER in final. Earlier, in 1st semi-final, Ishan of MIER thrashed Sahil Singh of BSF Paloura and Varinder Singh of KCP School defeated Anuj of DBN.
Badminton U-19 Boys: In final, APS Kaluchak beat APS Jammu Cantt by 2-1 sets. Mohit defeated Aryan in Singles while Aryan and Aryanveer thrashed Mohit and Satwik in Doubles. Mannat defeated Vishwant in Reverse Singles. Earlier, in 1st semi-final APS Jammu Cantt defeated SRML by 2-1 sets while APS Kaluchak beat BSF Paloura by 2-0 sets.
Badminton U-19 Girls: In quarter finals, APS Domana beat MHAC Nagbani by 2-0 sets, Presentation Convent defeated MIER by 2-0 sets, APS Jammu Cantt drubbed HSS Heritage Public School by 2-0 sets and APS Kaluchak beat HSS Akhnoor by 2-0 sets.
Taekwondo U-19 Boys: Aryan Gupta of SP Smart excelled in -46 Kg category, Ajay Kumar of Green World won in -50 Kg, Rahul of SRML stood 1st in -54 Kg, Pawan Kumar of Adarsh Niketan bagged 1st position in -58 Kg, Harsh Bagal of KV Sunjwana won in -62 Kg, Pridium Singh of SRML secured 1st position in -66 Kg, Tarun Sharma of Dream Land excelled in -70 Kg and Sakib Bedar of SRML stood 1st in + 70 Kg.
Judo U-19 Boys: In -45 Kg, Simranjeet Singh of APS Kaluchak stood 1st while Gulshan Sharma of BSF Paloura won 2nd position. In -50 Kg, Koushal of KCIS beat Rajan of SOS in 1st semi-final while Shevesh Mansotra of SRML defeated Manik of GHSS Marh in 2nd semi-final. In -55 Kg, Aman of APS Kaluchak thrashed Sparsh of BSF Paloura in 1st semi-final whereas Shivam of SOS beat Shakit Kumar of HSS Marh in 2nd semi-final. In -60 Kg, Rohit Singh of HSS Marh drubbed Hartik of SRML in 1st semi-final while Mridul of MIER defeated Arjun of SOS in 2nd semi-final. In -71 Kg, Udhav of KCIS thrashed Ranjeet of HSS Marh in 1st semi-final while Shuvam of SOS beat Ritesh of GD Goenka in 2nd semi-final. In +71 Kg Open, Sajan of BSF Paloura bagged 1st position while Gokul of MIER stood 2nd.
In Kathua district, the competitions of Hockey for U-19 Boys were organized today at Sports Stadium Hiranagar. As many as 68 students of 6 schools of the district participated in the tournament. The title trophy was lifted by Government Higher Secondary School Hirnagar by defeating IJHSS Hiranagar in final match by 2-1.
