Srinagar, Oct 8: A delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) led by President Javed Ahmad Tenga held a detailed interaction with the Vice Chairman of Srinagar Development Authority, the Chief Town Planner and the whole team of officers involved in the finalisation of proposed Srinagar Master Plan 2035.
In this regard, the perspective of the business community regarding the various points of concern in the Master Plan were discussed in detail, said the Chamber in a statement issued here, adding: “The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed its viewpoint regarding the decongestion and shifting of offices proposals for the Central Business District and the likely adverse impact it would have on the retail trade of the area.
“Apart from this, the Kashmir Chamber stressed on the need to revisit the permissible building height of buildings, the Floor Area Ratio, the permissible setback and also other building laws. The Kashmir Chamber was of the opinion that the discord amongst the various laws have resulted in endless litigation both for the private sector as well as the State Government.”
The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry also invited the attention of the officials towards the need of assessment of actual area under usage of various activities like Commercial, Industrial or Tourism and accordingly proceed to propose expansion in these sectors, the statement read. The Chief Town Planner assured the delegation that the statistical data in this regard would be compiled and shared with the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry appreciated the dedication, efforts and energy put in by the official team under the guidance of the Chief Town Planner Fayaz Ahmad Khan for the finalisation of the proposed Master Plan,” the KCCI statement added.
