JAMMU, Mar 25: KC Sports Club and Simula Club registered convincing wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing Winter Shield T20 Cup, being organized by SCA, J&K Sports Council under the supervision of Dr Naseem Choudhary, Secretary J&K Sports Council.
The objective of the tournament is to engage youth and students in sports activities to not to derail from the mainstream.
In the first match, KC Sports Club defeated Samba Cricket Eleven by 33 runs.
Batting first, KC Sports Club scored 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Arvind top scored with 46 runs, while Kawalpreet Singh contributed 45 runs to the total.
In reply, Samba Cricket Club managed to score 122 runs to lose the match by 31 runs. From KC Sports Club, Arvind and Vicky took 3 wickets each, while Babloo bagged 2 wickets and Kalian claimed one. Arvind was declared as the man of the match for his all-round performance.
In another match, Simula Club defeated NCC by 15 runs.
Batting first, Simula Club scored 158 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Puneet top scored with 44 runs, while Satish and Shashi contributed 31 and 27 runs respectively.
From NCC, Samad took 2 wickets, while Vishvajeet and Vijay claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, NCC managed to score 143 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 15 runs. Samad scored a fabulous half-century (50), while Manish Dogra and Sahil contributed 25 and 20 runs respectively. From Simula Club, Kuldeep Kumar and Vikram took 2 wickets each, while Shashi, Akash and Vivek claimed 1 wicket each. Puneet was declared as the man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Vijay, Dayal and Ashok Kumar.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Vishal Cricket Club will take on Eleven Stars Club at 9.30 am, while RCC will face KCCC at 1 pm.
