6th Christmas T20 Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Dec 9: KC Sports Club and Shehanshah Club registered wins in their respective matches and entered into quarterfinal stage of the ongoing 6th Christmas T20 Cricket Championship, being played at Parade Ground Jammu under the banner of Christian Sports Organization Jammu, Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Christian Fellowship Trust Jammu and supported by Diocese of Jammu.
The objective of the championship is to involve the youths in sports so that they may not indulge in drugs. The slogan of the championship is “Be Healthy–Don’t Do Drugs”.
The championship is being organized under the supervision of Dr SD Singh Jamwal IGP Jammu and Fr Kuriakose Chairmanship CSO whereas the event conduct committee includes SSP Rajesh Sharma, SSP Ramesh Kotwal, SP Amritpal Singh, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Lazar Kandayara, Johnson Gill, Festus Sotra, Victor Sotra, Asif Gill, David Mattoo, William Mattoo, Sudhir Singh, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi, Sahil Sharma and Sunny Gill. The sponsors of the championship are Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Canara Bank, Vivo and M/s Horizon Group of Industries.
In today’s matches, IGP Basant Rath was the chief guest, while Fr Xavier Priest of St. Peter’s Church Prem Nagar Jammu, Rajesh Gill Former Ranji Player and Organizing Secretary of the event, Lazar Kandayara, David Mattoo, Asif Gill and Jacob Gill were also present.
In first match, KC Sports Club defeated Raja Warriors by only 1 run.
Batting first, KC Sports Club scored 146 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Abhishant Bakshi made 52 runs, while Arjun Choudhary scored 31 runs and Pranav Gupta made 21 runs.
From the bowling side, Kewel and Rahul took 2 wickets each while Arun and Puneet scalped 1 wicket each.
In reply, Raja Warriors could not chase the target and managed to score 145 runs in last over of the game by losing 7 wickets thus lost the match by 1 run. In the last over, the team required 9 runs to win but made 8 runs. Aditiya scored 36 runs, while Sunny scored 31 runs and Nikhil made 21 runs.
From bowling side, Vivek and Vijay took 2 wickets each, while Vicky and Pranav scalped 1 wicket each.
Abhishant was declared as Man of the Match.
In the second match, Shehanshah Club defeated Christian Sports Organization by 15 runs.
Batting first, Shehanshah Club scored 137 runs for the loss of all wickets in 18 overs. Tuffy made 71 runs and Altaf scored 10 runs.
From the bowling side, Sunil Sambyal took 3 wickets, Sunny Gill and Ajay took 2 wickets each while Nitu took 1 wicket.
In reply, Christian Sports Organization could not chase the target in the stipulated 18 overs and managed to score 122 runs by losing 8 wickets thus lost the match by 15 runs. Justin made 27 runs, Nishu scored 26 runs and Danny scored 10 runs.
From bowling side, Arif took 3 wickets, while Ambrose, Altaf and Vartu took 1 wicket each.
Tuffy was adjudged as Man of the Match.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Ashok, Sanju and Vijay.
In tomorrow fixture, KC Academy XI will face Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor and Lakshmi Club will take on WCC Kashmir Club.
