Kavinder for preserving rich Shaiv philosophy for posterity

JAMMU, Jan 6: Maintaining that Shaiv philosophy is our rich legacy, Speaker State Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that the need of the hour is to preserve it for the posterity.

The Speaker, who was the chief guest at a function organized by Kashmir Performance Collective at Abhinav Theatre here, this evening in connection with release of three  books Longings-Buds & Blossoms & Vidaakh te Vaakh written by renowned scholar of Kashmir Shaivism, Late Prof Tej Raina, said the new generation instead of remaining hooked to Internet and Face Book round the clock should also penetrate in these books which is a great treasure.
Terming Prof Tej Raina a great philosopher, he said by watching his seven minute Video  one can understand that he was an embodiment of knowledge and philosophy. He said that it is very difficult to understand Raina’s poetry and philosophy and one needs constant study of it in understanding the same.
BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi who was the guest of honour on the occasion also paid glowing tributes to this great son of Kashmir whose contribution according to him in highlighting the rich Trika philosophy of Kashmir can never be forgotten and for which he will be remembered for centuries to come.
Sethi said poetry writing is an art as a poet can describe entire idea in few lines for which a writer of prose will need pages together. He said his books on Shaivism will not only help in preserving this rich legacy but also can lead future generations to a new direction.
Renowned scholar and convener Panun Kashmir, Dr Agnishekhar, while paying tributes to Prof Tej Raina said he was an extraordinary personality, philosopher and a great human being.
He, while commenting on the books of Prof Raina, said the Vaakh parampara (tradition) started 700 years back in Kashmir by great Shaiviat and mystic poet, Lal Ded, Roop Bhawani which was followed by many mystic poets and in modern times Bimla Raina also worked on Vaakh.
Maintaining that writings of Prof Raina enlighten one, he said the author of these books was a natural and simplistic person. He said by going through the Vaakhs of Prof Tej they will introduce a person to his inner self and one can find that Prof Tej was a Sadak (a devotee of Shiva). His Vaaks are the expression of God realization, he added.
Prof Veena Pandita Chairperson, J&K Board of School Education while recalling her association with Prof Tej said he was a sea of knowledge about poetry and poetry was in his jeans. He had command over the languages of Kashmiri, Hindi and English and he wrote equally beautiful in all these languages, she added.
Terming Prof. Tej a humble and a down to earth person, she said for her he was a Guru who has done a lot of research on Trika philosophy and Lal Ded.
Dr Bhawna Raina daughter of Prof Tej also spoke on the occasion. Among other speakers included Avatar Krishan Mota while the vote of thanks was proposed by Anubhav Raina, son of Prof Tej. Ravi Bhan a renowned singer mesmerized the audience with beautiful rendition of some of Vaakhs from the book. Well know poet M K Santoshi was also on the dais on the occasion. The programme was anchored by Pankaj Raina.
