JAMMU, Aug 25: Former Dy. CM and MLA Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta laid foundation stone for the construction of Nursing College at Gangyal near here, today.
The Nursing College building is being constructed by J&K Police Housing Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 349 Lakhs for the first phase. On the occasion, Medical Superintendent, Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Gangyal, Dr. Poonam Gupta, Executive Engineer, J&K Police Housing Corporation, Joint Director Planning and Health, Madan Lal were also present.
While addressing the gathering of the locality, the staff from Rajiv Gandhi Hospital and the officials from J&K Police Housing Corporation, Gupta said that availability of affordable, safe, and effective health services is the right of every citizen. Union Government has taken many initiatives for the improvement of healthcare system in rural and urban areas. Medical colleges and nursing colleges help to strengthen and improve healthcare delivery. He said the that there is dire need of such type of Nursing educational Institutions where the trainees can get the knowledge of caring services make them aware of the diseases and get the knowledge how to get rid of the seasonal diseases.
He further said that the Modi Government is serious in improvement of the healthcare facilities in our State. To boost the health sector of the State, two AIIMS would be set up in Jammu’s Vijaypur and Kashmir’s Awantipora town at the cost of Rs 4,000 crore under the Government of India’s Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The Union Health Ministry had announced five new medical colleges, one each in Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Doda and Kathua districts.which shall start functioning from next Year.
These medical colleges are being constructed at a cost of Rs 945 crore with the 90 per cent funds from the Central Government and 10 per cent State share. Gupta stressed for ensuring transparency in the working of the departments and asked the concerned officers to submit the status reports regularly to his office. He asked the officers to adopt cost efficient methods for quality work.
Later , Gupta inspected the ongoing work of installation of 250 KVA transformer at Dashmeesh Nagar, Ward 56, Gangyal . He directed the concerned officers for early completion of the works.
