Kavinder for comprehensive, need based development of rural areas

JAMMU, Feb 18: Speaker State Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that the comprehensive and need based development of rural and far off areas has been ensured by the coalition Government with implementation of various welfare programmes and schemes.
This was stated by him while visiting the Panchayats of Gandhi Nagar.
The Speaker took extensive tour of Bhour Camp, Gadhi Garh, Barjala, Narwal Bala, Sunjwan, Doongia and other Panchayats of the area and interacted with locals at these places.
The locals put forth various issues during the public darbars held at these places and the Speaker patiently listened to the issues faced by the local population.
Despite J&K being Socio-culturally, economically, linguistically a heterogeneous State, he said, it sets an unique example of unity in diversity and the present dispensation is committed to the holistic development of the State.
The Speaker directed the officers of PWD(R&B), RDD, Revenue, PDD, PHE and other to chalk out development plans in consultation with the locals to avoid any disagreement in the future.
He also asked them to accelerate the development works and organize special grievances redressal & awareness camps to facilitate the people and minimize the hardship faced by the common man.
He informed that the Union Ministry of Rural Development has extended a record package of Rs. 873 Crore under phase 10th of the PMGSY Scheme for the State.
Mentioning the role of NABARD, he said the apex institution has provided support of Rs. 128 crore to the banks in the previous financial year and has identified priority sector credit potential of Rs.18000 crore approx for the current financial year.
Lauding the working of BJP-PDP Government, the Speaker said that the sincere efforts can be gauged from the fact that it is focusing on asset building.
The Government has not only strengthened the Rural Develop-ment Department but has created many assets in the rural areas with the help of convergence scheme, he said.
He said the Government is well aware of the fact that majority of the population puts up in rural area and it is striving hard to give them the best infrastructure to enhance their living standards.
