KATRA, July 14: Alleging a scam in the list of Daily Wagers compiled by Municipal Committee Katra, scores of Daily-Wagers of MC Katra took to streets, here today in protest against not forwarding their case for regularization of service and disposal of their salaries.
Shouting slogans against MC Katra, they also torched an effigy of the Municipal authorities. They claimed that bio metric forms of only 60 Causal Labourers were sent by MC Katra while 160 others were willfully rejected.
Terming the list prepared by the Municipal Committee Katra as a bundle of lies, they feared that their services were at stake.
Sohan Chand, president of the union, addressed the protesters and said that a number of committees were formed by the State Government to resolve their long-pending issues and demands, but every time their file was thrown to dust bun in the Secretariat. He said that it was a sheer injustice and would force the Casual Workers to launch a struggle against the administration. He lamented that they had not received the wages for the last 18 months which should be paid at the earliest.
The Union leader claimed that CEO Katra Municipal Committee had randomly chosen only 60 employees for biometric Id but there were other 160 forms pending. He threatened to hold protest tomorrow along with their family members.
