Kathua Police arrests 5 bootleggers

KATHUA, May 16: Continuing staunch drive launched by the District Police Kathua to nab the persons indulging in smuggling of illicit liquor, Police party of PP Hatli acting on a specific information laid down naka at Barmora near Fruit Mandi, Kathua and nabbed three bootlegger and seized 129 pouches of J&K Excise from their possession.
The arrested bootleggers included Ashok Vishavkarma S/o Ekta Vishavkarma R/o Sector No. 81, Chandigarh A/P K.V. School, Janglote, Kuldeep Kumar S/o Dev Raj R/o Chhan Arorian, Ashwani Kumar alias Raj Kumar S/o Bhram Dass R/o Chhan Arorian. They were carrying 50, 40 & 39 pouches of J&K Excise (Frooties) respectively. In this regard, a case FIR No. 149/2017 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered against them at Police Station Kathua.
In addition to it, Police Party of PP Nagri laid down a naka at Changran and nabbed two bootlegger and recovered 93 pouches of J&K Excise from their possession.
The arrested persons included Bhagwan Dass S/o Ram Dhan R/o Chann Dhatiyal and (2) Rajinder Kumar S/o Hans Raj R/o Balad Tehsil Hiranagar District Kathua carrying 48 & 27 (250 Ml), 18 (180 ml) pouches of J&K Excise (Frooties) respectively. In this regard, a case FIR No. 150/2017 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered against them at Police Station Kathua.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of S.S. Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. Kathua and overall supervision of Mohd. Suleman Choudhary, SSP Kathua.
