KATHUA, May 13: MCA Department of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, organized a three-day industrial visit to Chandigarh for the students of MCA II & IV semesters.
Twenty four students along with six faculty members of the department were the part of the visit. A total of seven renowned IT companies were visited by the students in the areas of Mohali IT Park and Chandigarh IT Park. The companies included Sebiz Square, NetSmartz, Cloud Smarts, We Excel, Startup Box, Smarter e Learning and CS Soft Solutions. The visit was a first of its kind and students got ample opportunity to interact with various IT experts from the said companies. They updated the students with the latest developments and trends in IT Industry and students also interacted with the Project Managers in the developing area of live projects. Appreciating the interest and inquisitiveness of the students, some of the companies also assured to have Placement drives in the campus.
Professor Rajni Kant, Rector, Kathua Campus, said that such type of Industry- Academia collaboration will go a long way in enriching the practical insight and all round development of the students. He assured full support from the Campus in organizing such activities in future also. Further, he also assured the students that the companies will be approached for a visit to the campus so that placement avenues for the MCA students could be worked out.
The visit was organized by the faculty of MCA Department under the academic leadership of Sourabh Shastri, Incharge Head, MCA Department, who emphasized that such activities are very beneficial for the students in enhancing and sharpening their knowledge. He assured that more such activities shall be undertaken in near future to supplement the Classroom teaching with live and practical exposure to IT Industry.
Riti Prakash Katal, Amardeep Sharma, Arun Singh, Bharat Bhushan and Ankita Kangotra from MCA Department accompanied the students and coordinated the whole trip.
