Over 8 kanals of land retrieved, 17 shops demolished

JAMMU, Sept 26: In a major anti encroachment drive launched by District Administration, Kathua under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria more than eight kanals and 10 marlas of State land were retrieved from the clutches of five Gujjar families at village Baan, Tehsil Marheen of Kathua district.
A team led by SDM, Hiranagar, Suresh Kumar along with a police team reached the village Baan and started anti encroachment drive by pressing a JCB into service. The five Gujjar families have encroached more than eight kanals and 10 marlas of State land on the bank local Khud in the village. The land encroachers tried to create hurdles and make the drive a failure. But police frustrated their designs and did not allow the situation to go out of control.
It successfully removed the illegal structures raised on the land and retrieved the State land from the clutches of encroachers.
In another drive launched at Nagari Bus Stand, Kathua , a team led by ACR Jatinder Misra and Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kathua 17 illegal Pacca structures of shops were demolished which were constructed by the local people . The JCB was put in service and it demolished all the Pacca structure constructed on State land and warned the people to keep away from such illegal encroachments on State land.
The administration in Kathua which has launched a vigorous drive against the encroachers of State land including Gairmumkin Khud and Ghascharai has started identification of such land in entire district to retrieve it.
In this regard an order has already been issued by Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria to all tehsildhar, Patwaris and revenue department officials to cancel all such illegal entries made in revenue records.
