Srinagar, Dec 27: Desc-ribing Kashmir as a safe place for tourists, a delegation of tour operators from different parts of the country, who were on a FAM (familiarization) tour of the Valley, today said peace in the region is now visible and asked people outside to go ahead with their plan to visit the Valley.
The 25-member delegation of tour operators were on FAM tour of the Valley on the invitation of the Department of Tourism, Kashmir. During their stay of four days in Kashmir, the tour operators visited many famous places of the Valley, including Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Srinagar to assess the situation after months of unrest following the killing of top militant commander Burhan Wani on July 8.
“The way we have been visiting Valley from last three days and the way we have been welcomed and assured by State and Tourism Department we feel that coming days are good for tourism. The peace we wanted is now visible here. If the atmosphere remains same then we think the Valley will not be able accommodate tourists since huge number of people are waiting to arrive,” a tour operator from Maharashtra Tour Operators told Excelsior.
He said while being in Kashmir they felt that they are actually in their own home. The tour operators said there is lot of improvement in the situation of Valley and positive environment is prevailing.
“We want there should be good improvement in the tourism and there is no security problem at all. We will spread the message that the Kashmir is safe as was earlier and we will promote Kashmir once we reach our place back,” the tour operators said.
Asking people outside to ‘pack their bags’ and go ahead with their plans of visiting Kashmir, the tour operators said the Valley is safe for tourists. They said Kashmir was their most favoured destination and they would promote it with full dedication.
