Kashmir centric cops running colonial rule over Jammu: Harsh

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 28: Demanding intra-regional postings of Policemen, JKNPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh today alleged that Kashmir centric cops were running colonial rule over Jammu region by quelling the voice of people here while Jammu based Police personnel were deployed in Kashmir to confront militant attacks.
Addressing a press conference, here today, he said that intra- regional postings of police force would avoid alienation between public and the officers. “Of late it had been noticed that the policemen hailing from Jammu region were facing severe problems in Kashmir whose lives were endangered while they confronted frequent terror attacks in absence of adequate protective gear. On the contrary, the cops from the Valley who were posted in Jammu region,  enjoyed liberties with such officers acting as despots and running colonial rule under a well knit Kashmir dominated political system,” alleged  Harsh Dev.
Recalling the infamous Rasana child murder case, Mr Singh regretted that the way the Crime Branch dealt with the case it had raised millions of eyebrows and instilled doubts among the people regarding its credibility. “Why did the Government opt for Kashmir officers of disputable antecedents for probing a sensitive issue in Jammu region which had international connotations?” he asked and also pointed towards alleged harassment of Panthers leaders and activists in District Udhampur.
