Kashmir based drug traffickers arrested with 500 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Oct 3: The sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) Jammu and cops from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station arrested two Kashmir based drug traffickers along with 500 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on credible information, the sleuths of SOG Jammu and cops from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station led by SP Operations Jammu Vinay Sharma raised a surprise checking point at Environmental Park and signaled a tanker bearing registration number JK01J-0713 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the checking point.
During checking, police recovered 500 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested two persons.
The arrested persons have been identified as Gulzar Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad and Vakil Ahmed Bhat, son of Mohammad Saleem, both residents of Pulwama, Kashmir.
The accused had brought the consignment from Kashmir for selling among youth to make them drug addicts, but with their arrest police foiled their bid.
A case under FIR Number 77/17 under relevant Sections has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bagh-e-Bahu SI Bimal Indu made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Arun Jamwal, SP SOG Jammu Vinay Sharma, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
