JAMMU, Oct 15: Up in arms against the Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission’s announcement of conducting Mains- 2016 Combined Civil Services Exams next month, the KAS aspirants held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
The protesters, led by NSUI president of Jammu University unit, Vishal Kotwal, were demanding postponement of the Mains examination because of multiple reasons. They also raised slogans in support of their demand and against the carelessness of PSC.
“Had the PSC taken due care before the Prelims exam, the problem won’t have surfaced in the first place and exam would have certainly finished by now. Their non methodical ways of doing things and the lack of professionalism, transparency & accountability has created such a mess that it seems a distant reality to get out of the abyss,” said the protesting aspirants.
While listing the reasons in support of their demand, the aspirants pointed out that the  PSC declared the result of 2014 Mains only last week and they were  quite sure that most of the 2014 successful candidates are also appearing in 2016 Mains. Therefore, they added,  it will be ideal to finish the interviews first and declare the 2014 final result in a month or so and after that  exams for KAS 2016 should be conducted.  “If the exams happen as per PSCs  schedule,  there is every chance that the eventual selectees of KAS 2014 will again find their names in the interview list of KAS 2016, which means that they will be cutting down the chances of other probables ,which will pave way for further litigation,” they explained and added that  this needless complication  can be easily avoided if the process of KAS Mains 2014 is completed first and afterwards the KAS Mains  2016 is completed.
The  protesting aspirants also pointed out that the IAS exams, conducted by UPSC are scheduled from 28th October to 3rd November and if the JKPSC does not postpone date-sheet of its Mains exam, candidates would be forced to opt for any of the two.
Those who addressed the protest demonstration, included Antriksh Chib, Raghav, Akshay, Mukesh, Rohit, Jagdeep, Bashir Ahmed. Vikram Arif Ahmed,  Ajaz Ahmed, Gulzar Jamwal, Rahul Sharma and others.
