JAMMU, Feb 4: Former Chief Executive Councillor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC),  Kargil and Councilor Baroo, Haji Mohammad Hanifa Jan lashed out at the present LAHDC Kargil over the unprecedented power and ration crisis in Kargil district, saying  that recent snowfall has buried the whole Council.
In a press statement former CEC said that the recent snowfall has paralyzed and buried the whole Council and there is no doubt about its priorities and inability to address people’s problem.
The roads between Kargil-Drass, Kargil-Sankoo, and Kargil-Batalik have not been cleared of snow. There is no electricity, ration, kerosene available to the public. The  Council is not visible on ground to take note of the misery and suffering that people are facing. People are unable to take patients to hospitals on time due to blockade of roads in many areas of Kargil, he said.
Stating that Kargil district is facing a major power crisis for the past 8 months, since the present Council took over the charge, he said Kargil town is worst hit. The unscheduled power cuts have made life of people miserable. He further added that due to lack of coordination between Hill Council, Power Department and NHPC, people are facing unscheduled power cuts.
Haji Hanifa Jan has sought immediate restoration of road connectivity between district headquarter and block headquarters, better ration supply and  restoration of better power supply in town and other areas.
