Kanhaiya, Qamran slam tons as J&K Tripura match hangs in balance

JAMMU, Nov 7: Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Kamran Iqbal slammed magnificent centuries to help Jammu and Kashmir score a decent total of 345 runs in their second essay after conceding a lead of 119 runs to Tripura in Round-1 Group-D Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
J&K resumed their second innings at -on day-3, with overnight batsmen Kanhaiya and Kamran at the crease. Both the batsmen applied themselves up to the maximum level and hit the ball with grit, guts and grace to help Jammu and Kashmir post a big total and set a target of 227 runs for Tripura for day-4, the last day of the match tomorrow. Kanhaiya scored 117 runs off 304 balls, studded with 16 splendid boundaries, while Kamran scored 116 runs off 175 balls with the help of 12 boundaries and 3 sixes. Mujtaba Yousuf made unbeaten 30 runs, while Raghav Sharma contributed 23 runs to the total. From Tripura Chandan Ray took 4 important wickets.
Earlier, in the first innings J&K bundled out for paltry 145 runs. Sahil Lotra top scored with 37 runs, while Tehsin Dar contributed 25 runs to the total. Umar Majeed, Kanhaiya and Kamran chipped in with 21, 18 and 14 runs respectively. Rohit Singh took 4 wickets, while Chandan Ray bagged 3 wickets for Tripura.
Tripura in their first innings scored 264 runs to gain a lead of 119 runs. Riaz Uddain and AN Dutta scored 68 and 52 runs to the total respectively. Chandan Ray also contributed unbeaten 29 runs to the total. From Jammu and Kashmir, Umar Majeed and Javed Ahmed took 3 wickets each.
Now, Tripura needs 227 runs to win on day-4 tomorrow, so the match hangs in balance and the players of the team which will hold their nerves better in the crunch situation will be the winner.
