JAMMU, Mar 3: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) will start indefinite agitation from March 7 for grant of district status to Jammu West Assembly Constituency and bifurcation of the constituency into two Assembly constituencies.
This was disclosed today by Sunil Dimple, president, JWAM, while addressing a press conference. Dimple also served 48 hours ultimatum to Government and threatens to call “Jammu Band” in support of grant of district status to Sunderbani and Nowshera.
Dimple said that Jammu West Assembly Constituency is the largest constituency of the State with more than 12 lakh population, 250000 voters and 26 municipal wards due to which there is no development visible on ground and therefore it should be bifurcated into two Assembly constituencies each part of the constituency may get its share of development. He also demanded implementation of the delimitation commission, rotation of the Assembly constituencies to end the Kashmir domination on the Jammu region.
While extending full support to the people of the Sunderbani and Nowshera who have called indefinite Sunderbani, Nowshera Band for the last many days for the grant of district status, Dimple appealed them not to get misled, continue their agitation and don’t trust the BJP on the fake assurance as they have already betrayed people of Jammu region and surrendered before the PDP on many core issues like holiday on the birth anniversary of Mahraja Hari Singh ji, implementation of the delimitation commission, Art 35-A, 370 and settlement of the PoK refuges.
