JAMMU, Dec 4:  Jammu West Assembly Movement today held a protest at New Plot on Amphalla-High Court road against the rising traffic problem in Jammu city, particularly on Janipur road.
Addressing the protesting activists, JWAM president, Sunil Dimple said that the traffic in the Jammu city particularly on Janipur-High Court road, Jammu-Akhnoor road and Talab Tillo road have increased considerably in over last decade but the roads are shrinking due to encroachments and parking of vehicles due to which people have to waste their precious time in traffic jams almost every day.
He said on one hand traffic police has failed to control the traffic jams and regulate the traffic and on the other hand Government is doing nothing to ease the traffic problem. He said that sitting MLAs and MPs of Jammu never bothered to raise the voice against the traffic problem and for construction of the flyovers, circular roads and ring roads to overcome the traffic problem.
Dimple demanded the Government to hold a meeting on the traffic problem and issue directives to construct the flyovers from Amphalla to upper Paloura and from Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo. He also demanded start of work on metro rail, mono rail and construction of circular roads to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu city.
He also demanded construction of alternative four way circular road from Amphalla (Manda) to Bantalab via Janipur and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo via Bhagwati Nagar to ease the traffic rush. Dimple also asserted for widening of the Jammu-Akhnoor road and making flyover on the same.
