Scores of JWAM activists led by Sunil Dimple, JWAM president, today assembled here at New Plot on Janipur road and staged a protest. Alleging that being largest constituency of the State there is no development in Jammu West constituency, the protesters demanded district status for the constituency. They threatened of launching a strong agitation if their demand for the grant of district status to the West Assembly constituency was not met with.
While speaking on the occasion, Sunil Dimple said that no development has taken place in the constituency in the last 2 years, as the BJP MLA is silent on this aspect. He alleged that BJP is responsible for discrimination with the Jammu people and demanded immediate steps to make Jammu a Smart City.
Dimple demanded Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and BJP-PDP Government for grant of “district status” or bifurcation of the Jammu West Assembly constituency into two Assembly segments and the implementation of the delimitation commission. He alleged the BJP Ministers, MLAs and MPs are more responsible for this discrimination with Jammu region, as they never took any stand on the implementation of the delimitation and always surrendered before the PDP, for the sake of their ministerial chairs, power.
