JAMMU, Mar 23: Rich tributes were paid to martyrs of Nadimarg carnage in which 24 innocent Kashmiri Pandits were massacred by the Jehadi elements in 2003.
A grand function was organised at Geeta Bhawan Muthi near here, today in which a large number of people along with the survivors of martyrs paid floral tributes to them. Main speakers included well known religious preacher and social activist Rajesh Prabu Ji. While highlighting the philosophy of karma yoga he paid rich tributes to the martyrs and performed Shanti path in the memorial Sabha.
Different community speakers gave a comprehensive review of the happenings in Kashmir for last 27 years.
The others who paid tributes to the martyrs included Ravinder Raina, president ASKPC, Chuni Lal Bhat, Santosh Koul, M.K. Yogi, Rakesh Koul and other dignitaries of the community.
It was on this day in 2003 when terrorists struck in the midnight in Nadimarg village in then Pulwama district of Kashmir Valley and killed these innocent people which included eleven men, eleven women and two minor children, a handout issued by survivors of Nadimarg carnage said. “Kashmir’s separatist movement against India has given Kashmiri Pandits bullet ridden bodies and exodus as a gift for being neutral and peace loving community. Till date none of the perpetrators were punished rather than stories are made to satisfy that the alleged perpetrators have been killed in encounters of which in real no record exists”, the handout added.
Nadimarg is one of these incidents as an example that have torn apart the claim of fake co-existence and secularism which is being boosted by every one in Kashmir whether from mainstream or from separatists camp.
The handout said an incident in which innocent victims were those who continued to live at their places even after majority of the community left the Kashmir Valley because of forced exodus. Fourteen years have passed but nothing has been done to punish the culprits and justice not provided in favour of victims, because of weak investigation and evidences of the State Government, it added.
The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Kritika Koul
