UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Two days Junior District Kabaddi Championship got underway at Subash Stadium, here today.
The Championship is being organized by Udhampur District Kabaddi Association under the banner of J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association.
310 players drawn from 28 teams including 22 teams in boys section and 6 in girls section participated in the Championship.
Ravinder Kumar, District Development Commissioner Udhampur was the chief guest on the occasion, who declared the Championship open.
The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
Among others present on the occasion were Sudesh Kumar Chalotra (DYSSO Udhampur), Brij Mohan Sharma, Ashok Sharma, Ranbir Singh, Vikram Salathia, Preeti Khajuria, Anil Basandi, Sanjeev Sharma, Santosh Kotwal, Ashwani Khajuria, Sumeet Magotra, Dr JC Gupta, Swatantar Dev Kotwal, Raghu Gandotra, Ravinder Singh, Pushpjeet Singh, Jhamil Singh, Dwarka, Jugal Kishore, Anil Gupta, Sanjeev Verma, Ravi Kumar, Vipin Photra, Vishal Bamotra and Ram Kumar.
The tournament is being organized under the patronage of Anil Gupta, President J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association and Ravi Basandi, President Udhampur District Kabaddi Association.
In boys section, Youth Club defeated City HS Club by 35-07, Vikas Club trounced HSSS Chenani by 19-12, Chenani Club defeated Roun Club by 39-05, AOC Club defeated DPS club by 15-03, Latti Club outplayed CPS Club by 17-07, Khoon Club got the better of NITL Club by 29-12, Udhampur Club prevailed over OM Club by 16-09 and Gujjar Hostel Club defeated Barta Club by 14-09, while in girls section, DPS Club defeated NITL Club by 22-16, Udhampur Kabaddi Club drubbed KC Club by 14-07 and Jaganoo Club beat DPS Club by 15-10.
The matches were officiated by Ajit Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Rakesh Khajuria, Parshotam Kumar, Angrez Singh, Pushp Kumar, Ramesh Chander and Bikram Singh.
