JU Syndicate gives nod to various agenda items

JAMMU, Aug 20: Jammu University Syndicate, which met here today under the Chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, gave nod to the various agenda items and also confirmed the action taken on previous items.
Threadbare discussions were held with respect to the various items and the long pending cases regarding regularization of employees and payment of allowances to the Helpers and Assistants were considered by the Syndicate.
Besides, confirmation of the action taken by the Vice-Chancellor regarding applicability of the UGC Minimum Qualification of appointment of teachers and other academic staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the maintenance of standards in Higher education (2nd amendment) Regulations, 2013 and (3rd amendment) Regulations, 2016 were also endorsed.
The items, which were endorsed by the Syndicate, included separation of Department of Electronics from the Department of Physics and Electronics, bifurcation of ‘Board of Sports and Youth Welfare’ as ‘Board of Sports’ and ‘Board of Students Welfare’ along with prescription of composition and Regulations Governing Board of Sports and Board of Students, exemption of pre Ph.D course work for the candidates who apply for Ph.D. after M.Phil, adoption of guidelines for checking of plagiarism,  recommendations of Green Campus Task Force (GCTF-JU) with regard to adoption of name, logo, mission statement, goal, aims and objectives, functions and powers, establishment of green fund facility under GCTF-JU, recommendations of the committee with respect to revised norms/ guidelines for the elections of the Students Union in the University of Jammu, skill development initiatives for enhancing employability of youth and creation of a post of Dean, Planning and Development and its functions and duties alongwith the responsibilities of the Heads of the teaching department of the University of Jammu/Offsite Campuses etc.
Earlier, Prof. Keshav Sharma, Registrar University of Jammu, presented 75 items in the meeting.
Prof. R D  Sharma, dwelled on various important academic and administrative matters with regard to the functioning of the University and its offsite campuses.
The Syndicate meeting was attended by Dr  Asgar Hassan Samoon,  Commissioner Secretary  Higher Education Dept,  Navin K  Choudhary,  Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Administrative Secretary to Govt, Finance Department, Financial Advisor (Universities), J&K Govt,  M. R. Andrabi, Director Codes, Prof Darshana Kumari, Dean, Faculty of Education, JU, Prof  D  S  Jamwal, Dean Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, JU, Prof G.M Bhat, Dept of Geology, JU, Prof  Arvind Jasrotia, Dean, Faculty of Law, JU, Prof. Ramnika Jalali, Department of Sanskrit, JU, Prof  Renu Goswami, Principal, Govt  College for Women, Parade and Prof  Koushal Samotra, Principal, Govt  College of Education.
Prior to the conduct of the Syndicate meeting, the Joint Committee, Finance Committee and Screening Committee for promotion of officers in Jammu University were also held today.
