JU SC/ST employees apprise Registrar of their grievances

JAMMU, Nov 1: The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association members met the Registrar Dr Minakshi Kilam and expressed concern over sufferings of the SC/ST employees on various accounts due to non-compliance of interim orders issued by the Supreme Court and instructions given to the University in respect of appointing a Standing Committee for SCs, STs for having its accumulated grievance addressed on fast-track basis.
Association members further said that theirs is the only Government recognized Association in the University but despite that it is not being given any space to establish its office whereas others not even been recognized by the apex body, do have their offices in the campus. They also said that there are instructions given by the UGC to the University by which the representation are required to be given to the SCs, STs in the University Syndicate, Academic Council, Selection Committees, etc but those too have not been complied with.
The Registrar after listening to Association members agreed to have the said Standing Committee constituted for the purpose and that needful action would be taken to settle their other issues too.
Those who met the Registrar included R L Kaith, Surjeet Singh Heer, Milkhi Ram Malhotra, Sukhdev Bhagat, Kunj Lal Bhagat, Manzoor Mohd Malik, Ghulam Hussain and others.
