JU organizes seminar on Hindi Sahitya

JAMMU, Mar 24: Department of Hindi, University of Jammu (JU) today organized a one-day seminar on the topic ‘Hindi Sahitya: Subaltern Sandarbh’.
In the inauguration session, Prof Rohini Aggarwal of Rohtak University presented key note address. She cited examples of peasants, women, aadivasi and dalit from Hindi literature and references from the novel ‘Faans’. She also talked about famous short story ‘Usnekehatha’.
Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, JU, in his presidential address, said that this seminar is like a workshop in which we learn many things about art and literature. He stressed upon organizing more such seminars.
In the paper reading session, Dr Vandana Sharma, Parshotam Kumar, Jyoti Rani, Rajani Kumari, Bhagwati Devi, Pooja sharma, Sapna Kumari, Neelam Devi, Sapna Devi, Nisha Verma, Ravi Kumar, Poonam, Vijay Kumar, Naresh Kumar, Dr Saniya Gupta, Deepika Sharma, Anu Plathia and Sham Singh presented their research papers.
Prof Pushpa Rani from Kurukshetra University, who presided over the session gave her expert comment over the papers and evaluated the presentations in their totality. Dr Pran Nath Trishal, who presided over the second paper session, commented on the pronunciation of paper reader.
Earlier, Prof Parvinder Kour, Head, Department of Hindi, in her welcome address, explained the deep rooted meaning of Subaltern. Prof Prameshwari Sharma presented vote of thanks while Dr OPN Dwivedi compered the programme.
