JU Law School organizes Legal Awareness Camp

JAMMU, May 5: The Law School, University of Jammu, organised one day “Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Camp” in Surinsar Town.
Students of 10th Semester of Law School actively participated in the camp. They interacted with the locals of the area and  had group discussion and interviews with regard to their awareness regarding various  public welfare legislation, viz  Legal Services Authority Act, Public Services Guarantee Act, Panchayat Raj Act, J&K Information Act  etc.
Prior to going for camp, the select students of the 10th Semester got a briefing from Justice J P Singh. Member, J&K State Accountability Commission and former Judge, J&K High Court about the extension of various schemes of the J&K State Government like ‘Old Age Pension Scheme’, Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’, ‘Scholarship Scheme’ ‘Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan” whose benefit has not been trickled down to the marganlised sections of the society.
The students conducted day long awareness drive on the aforementioned parameters in Surinsar. The camp was conducted under the guidance of Director, The Law School , Prof  Arvind Jasrotia and was coordinated by Dr  Monica Narang, Sr  Assistant Professor and other faculty members.
