JU discusses Indian Science Congress arrangements with Civil Administration

JAMMU, July 1: Gearing up for smooth conduct of five-day 101st Indian Science Congress, scheduled to be held from February 3, 2014, the Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof M P S Ishar today convened a high level meeting to discuss the arrangements.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Jammu  Pradeep Gupta, IG Security  Sunil Kumar Sharma,  Deputy Commissioner Jammu,  Ajeet Kumar Sahu, DIG Jammu  Shakeel Ahmed  Baig, SSP Jammu  Atul Goel,  Jt Director Hospitality and Protocol,  Indu Kanwal Chib, XEn PHE City Div II Jammu  N  N Raina, Chief Engineer PDD Shahnaz Goni, CE PWD Thaseen Mustafa,  General Manager JKTDC  Sushil Atri, ADC Jammu  Sushma Chauhan, Assistant Director Health, Dr  Preetam Katoch,  Dy Director (PR), Information Deptt   Jyoti Slathia and  officers from the University.
The Vice Chancellor, who is also the president of the Congress, stressed the need for coordinated efforts by various departments of the Jammu and Kashmir Government and the University for ensuring that all the required arrangements are put in position within stipulated time frame.
The meeting held detailed discussions with regard to issues relating to boarding and lodging of the delegations thronging from various parts of the country and abroad, transportation, traffic regulation, medical facilities, up gradation and creation of infrastructural facilities, security, general cleanliness and the related arrangements. The university called for active cooperation and support of the State Government.
Describing the schedule Science Congress as an important event, the VC hoped that all departments would put in their best to make it a grand success.
Prof Meena Sharma, Local Secretary, Science Congress gave a detailed presentation on the various issues related to arrangements for the Indian Science Congress.
This is for the first time that Science Congress is being held in Jammu and Kashmir. The University of Jammu will be host to the event that is being attended by over 12,000 delegates from across the country and abroad also. The conference will be spread in 14 parallel sessions between February 3 & 7, 2014.
The JU officers, who attended the meeting, included, Prof Naresh Padha, Local Secretary, Science Congress, Prof Neeru Sharma, Convenor, Registration Committee, Prof J S Tara, Convenor Transport, Prof N K Tripathi, Convenor Accommodation, Er Arvind Gupta, XEn, University Works Deptt, Dr D L Choudhary, Administrator, GZAC and Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor.
