JAMMU, Mar 2: PG Toppers and Ph D pass out candidates of Jammu University of the year 2016 shall be awarded Gold Medals and degrees, respectively during 17th Convocation of Jammu University on March 4, 2018, final rehearsal of which was held here today.
The Convocation ceremony will be held at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex of the University wherein Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley shall be the chief guest and deliver the Convocation Address. Governor, N N Vohra, who is also Chancellor of the University, and Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of the University, shall also address the Convocation.
In the said Convocation, 185 candidates will be awarded degrees and 59 other meritorious students will be honored with the Gold Medals.
The function will also be graced by many distinguished personalities, including Ministers, senior Bureaucrats and Government officials, academicians of repute, parents of the awardees and the prominent members of the civil society.
As per the schedule, the Convocation function will begin at 11.13 a.m with the arrival of Academic Procession in the Hall, which shall be followed by playing of National Anthem and Invocation.
The Convocation shall be declared open by the Registrar with the consent of the Chancellor and thereafter the Vice-Chancellor shall present Report of the University.
After award of Ph D Degrees and Medals to the candidates, Pro-Chancellor and Chancellor shall deliver their address, which shall be followed by the Convocation Address by Arun Jaitley.
The Convocation shall be declared closed at 12.56 hrs.
Established in the year 1969, University of Jammu is an autonomous State University and has recently been accredited as ‘A+’ Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India. JU offers around seventy postgraduate and undergraduate courses in different faculties. The research programmes range across many disciplines, imparting Ph.D. in around 37 and M Phil. in around 26 disciplines.
