JSPL contributes Rs 2 cr towards Kerala relief fund

NEW DELHI, Sept 19: Steel maker Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL) Wednesday said it has given over Rs 2 crore to Kerala government to help flood-affected victims.
“An amount of Rs 2 crore was credited into the Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund to help the flood affected people of Kerala to aid relief and rehabilitation programme,” JSPL said in a statement.
It was one of the worst floods Kerala has seen in nearly a century. In estimation, the floods have displaced more than 8,00,000 people and more than 400 lives were lost during the flood. The floods have impacted around 70 per cent of Kerala, the company said.
“The human suffering and devastation of such an unprecedented magnitude brought by the devastating floods throughout Kerala calls for a huge relief & rehabilitation efforts. JSPL & JPL joined hands together to re-build Kerala,” Sanjay Sagar, MD, Jindal Power Limited, an arm of JSPL, said in the statement. (PTI)
