JAMMU, Feb 19: Kalsubai is the highest peak of Maharashtra surrounded by wild trails and deep jungles.
One of the founding members of JRG landed his feet in to the wild for making his debut in the trail running scene of India.
Dr Dilawar Khan, who works with Ministry of Medicine J&K and a passionate runner, finished his first 50 kms ultra trail run in style.
This event was the second race of the Hell Race trail running series.
This series consists of 5 different trail races across India and a finale in Solang in Himachal Pradesh.
The race director Vishwas Sindhu informed that with these races they want to give the international trail running experience to Indian runners.
“India being a country of diverse geographical landscapes, has the potential to become host of world’s top trail running races. With the endeavours of doing so, the Hell race is organizing such races all over the nation”, he expressed.
Dr Dilawar Khan has a good experience of running Full Marathons, Half Marathons, and Intercity Runs.
He was sceptical as he hadn’t trained for trail running but a little confident also about his performance in the wild jungle of Maharashtra. He climbed the longest accent of 800 m in a go (Kalsubai Climb) during the race and tested his all experience in longish downhills.
According to him, training more on downhills can benefit him in future hellrace trail events.
He managed to finish the race in cut off time (10 hours) with the timing of 9 hours and 40 minutes.
The race featured some of elite trail runners of India.
The first runner in the 50 kms category has finished in around 6 hours.
Jammu Runners group has now added another feather on its running vitae and the Group is leaving no stone unturned in inspiring and luring more people to take up a healthy lifestyle.
The Hell Race is a series of endurance races featuring trail running, marathons, skyrunning and mountain biking.
India, a land of diverse terrain, ranging from the rocky faces of the Himalayas to the forested slopes of the Sahyadris and the Western Ghats, offers gruelling and challenging race routs. All the events are held in the epic terrain of the mighty Indian landscape and guaranteed to push you to the extremes.
