Parbhat bags 2nd spot; Gaurav excels in bare feet run

JAMMU, Oct 22: The runners from Jammu Runners Group (JRG) once again sparkled at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2018 at Delhi, yesterday.
The runners displayed great deal of endurance and fortitude amid smoggy weather conditions.
The Marathon was held with around 35,000 participants from all walks of life across the world taking part in it.
44 men and women from JRG participated in the event. Last year the team led by Rajesh Padha (guiding force for JRG) was of 29 participants and this year it went to 44.
It is pertinent to mention that Prabhat Singh, mentor and inspiration for runners in Jammu and Kashmir and across the nation acclaimed recognition while attaining the 2nd position at the event in the age category of 65-69 years.
Gaurav Gupta, Secretary Chamber of Commerce and Industry also known as the marathon man of Jammu yet again completed his 3rd Half Marathon within stipulated time bare feet.
He is the first bare feet marathon runner from Jammu and Kashmir.
Those who completed Airtel Half Marathon included Rajesh Padha, Sham Suri, Parbhat Singh, Dilawer, Vinod Padha, Sumeet, Rohin, Sandeep Singh, Ashray Chopra,Gursharan Singh, Gaurav Gupta, Bhupesh Gupta, Amarjeet Singh, Vikram Gupta, Ricky, Praveen Raina, Rajinder Gupta, Satbir Singh, Ajit, Kunal Chib, Vikram Garg, Kanupriya, Taranjeet Singh, Deepak Kohli, Gurnam Singh, Lucky Saini, Shirish, Nakul Saraf and Abhishek Gupta.
Meanwhile, the 10 km run was successfully completed by Tanvi Gupta, Sonika Gupta, Kuldeep Gupta, Chandan Gupta, Aryan Gupta, Ansh Gupta, Virender Magotra, Amogh Rohmetra, Vasu Gupta and Jatinder Sharma.
The 5 km run was completed by Amarjeet Singh, Nevadita Sharma and Smirdh Sharma.
The brave heart runners from Jammu not only completed the event in various distance categories but also announced with clarion about the Jammu Half Marathon first edition to be held on November 11, 2018 with a promo run at Delhi after completion of their official run.
“The triumph of seeing an event of this standard in our home town was always a matter of desire for runners like us. We are proud to see the running trend growing and bringing such an event to the state would be a matter of pride for JAC. Doing a promo run at a place where the journey started for me brings back so many memories and also brings hope for aspirant runners through the platform JAC aims to provide.”
