JMC undertakes wall paintings in collaboration with Excise Deptt

JAMMU, Dec 4: With a view to create an awareness among the youth against drug abuse and addiction, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and the J&K Excise Department started the wall painting campaign in the city of Jammu. The theme of the painting shall be social issues primarily the drug abuse. In the first phase the wall/ area at Indira Chowk was taken up under the drive.
The  locations have been decided on the basis of maximum coverage to the local youth and general masses with the intention that more and more local youth come forward to join hands for complete eradication of drugs from the society.
The programme started today under the supervision of Veenakshi Kaul, Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC and Tinna Mahajan ETO, North Range Excise along with other staff of both the departments.
A JMC handout issued here today said that the need of hour is to educate the youth about the drug abuse and its side effects as they are future of the country and we do not let the future of country spoil because of drug abuse.  Keeping in view this, JMC and Excise Department have come forward and decided to make aware the youth about drug abuse and also appealed to different associations to join hands in this vital issue for overcoming the drug addiction completely.
